Alopecia or Hair Loss – What is your experience?

With Joanna Rowsell attractive an Olympic Gold in cycling there has been some interesting discussion on every side the subject of her alopecia.  For a late blog on her view of alopecia please be considered here.

The term Alopecia can direct attention to baldness also known as androgenic alopecia unless it covers a number of other types of hair detriment as well:-
a) Traction alopecia – what one. is caused by hair pulling or conversion to an act of beauty techniques such as braids or tight sheltie tails.  It has been suggested that compressive close custody helmets can cause traction alopecia
b) Alopecia areata – this is the in what place hair is lost in patches from the scalp.
c) In a scanty minority of cases of Alopecia areata it be able to lead to either Alopecia totalis ( sum hair loss of the scalp) or Alopecia universalis (what one. it complete hair loss over the visible form).

As well as genetic causes alopecia be able to be cause by a wide wander of factors these include:-
a) Chemotherapy
b) Diabetes
c) Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
d) Malnutrition
e) Scalp disorders
f) Radiation therapy

And people others

Treatments can include
a) Hair transplants
b) Wigs
c) Medications such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) or Finasteride (Propecia)
d) Injections of cortisone
